Siemens Gigaset SL400
If Heineken made cordless phones, odds are they would look like this. A veritable Rolls Royce amongst telephones, this device addresses the single most irritating feature of the cordless phones I have owned to date. It is capable of copying directory information from the Outlook directory on the PC, and propagating it around multiple handsets. Amazing, I’m sure other manufacturers have worked this one out, but my last phone, bought a mere five years ago, couldn’t.
Other tricks the Siemens can do include SMS messaging, bluetooth, Calendar, alarm, in fact most of the things we have grown accustomed to using mobiles for. And in a stroke of true design genius, it’s made of metal, is satisfyingly heavy and boasts BMW standard engineering around the keypad. Fantastic. Oh, it has an answering machine and doesn’t need to be tethered to the base to recharge. Incredible!
